Growing St John's
What is Growing St John's?
Just like children, plants and hair, churches are meant to grow (I Corinthians 3:6). Growth is hard-wired into the DNA of the church - it's what we're supposed to be doing.
Growing St John's is a course for the whole church where we can:
learn key Biblical teachings on growth.
discuss, ask questions and apply these teachings to our situation.
become inspired and motivated.
make decisions, implement plans and discover new ways of working.
stick with the plans, reviewing them and adapting them.
The Growing St John's Prayer
Prayer is vital if St John's is to grow so this prayer is being said is every service. But we ask that every member of the church also prays this prayer every day.
There are cards with this prayer on them at the back of church. Please pick one up and use it daily.
The course consists of nine sessions spread over a 6 month period. Three sessions are for the leadership team (working group co-ordinators and PCC members) and six are for the whole congregation.
Each of the six sessions for everyone will run twice, 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm on a Thursday. Both sessions will cover the same material so you can choose which suits you best.
The leadership sessions will be 7 - 9 pm on a Thursday.
Each session will include:
A getting started activity to start thinking about the topic.
A Bible passage.
Exercises to help us think around the topic for St John's.
Time to respond and reflect on what has been said.
A Bible passage for further reflection.
This course is for everyone and will set the vision and plan for the next five years for St John's so it is important that everyone takes part. Please put the dates in your diary now and pray for God's guidance and wisdom as we seek to lead St John's into growth.
Sessions marked for everyone run twice, at 2pm and 7pm on the same day.
Sessions marked for the Leadership Team run at 7pm only.
Please note there have been some changes to dates due to the snow in early March.
